How to Create and Innovate with Musician and Applied Mathematician Peter Muller
In this episode, Peter and I discuss his latest album, "Spaces," and how he stays present in his music, his family, and his work in investing.
Pete Muller is a problem solver, whether he’s writing songs for his critically acclaimed albums, revolutionizing the way Wall Street works through applied mathematics at his trading company, winning as a semi-professional poker player, or authoring crosswords for the New York Times and Washington Post. He’s been profiled in Forbes and business insider and seen recently making ambitious real estate moves via The New York Post. He’s also a fantastic musician and songwriter who has a deep curiosity about how writing and performing can improve one’s outlook and focus one’s mind.
In addition to his fascinating work in math and business, Pete has also applied his passions to music. He’s got a new album out. It’s called Spaces. And I’ll have some links in the show notes where you can stream some of the songs. Additionally, Pete is a board member of the Live Music Society and has supported struggling live music venues. He also partnered with the Berklee School of Music to save the legendary Power Station recording studio in NYC (that hosted Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, David Bowie, and Bob Dylan).
Pete approaches his music with a deep curiosity about how writing and performing can improve one’s outlook and focus one’s mind. A natural math whiz, he’s remarked about the similarities in songwriting and math based around pattern recognition, and the importance of being able to edit oneself throughout the process.
